What

Birth

Doulas

Do

As birth doulas we accompany families in labor wherever they choose give birth, providing emotional support, physical support, advocacy and partner/family support.

We facilitate communication and provide reassurance and perspective with care providers and hospital staff, thus ensuring our clients have the information needed to make informed decisions prenatally and in labor.

Our skill set includes suggestions for labor progress, relaxation and coping techniques, massage and hands on support, positioning and expertise in navigating the complexities of birth.

We also offer labor and immediate postpartum photography. Immediately after the birth, we help the family settle in and get chestfeeding off to a good start.

We are independent and self-employed. As doulas we are working for our clients, not their care provider or hospital.

As

Doulas,

We

Do Not:

Perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, newborn and other medical exams.

We are there to provide physical comfort, emotional support, evidence-based information and advocacy.

We do not make decisions for our clients. We will help them get the information they need to make an informed decision and remind them if there is a departure from their birth plan during their labor.

We do not speak for our clients to medical staff  when decisions need to be made.

We will discuss our client’s concerns with them and suggest options, but our client or their partner will speak directly to clinical staff.

1:1 Prenatal Mentorship Session with Mentor (60 minutes)

A dedicated one-on-one session focused on supporting the mentee in building and strengthening their doula practice. Topics may include client communication, prenatal visit planning, on-call readiness, and establishing professional boundaries.

Client Prenatal + Postnatal Visits Observation

The mentee will observe and shadow Roxy during client prenatal and postpartum visits (with client consent), offering an opportunity to see relationship-building and client education in action.

Ongoing access to Roxy for questions, support, and feedback throughout the mentorship period. Mentees are encouraged to reach out as needed for clarification, advice, or emotional processing.

Shadowed Birth Support

The mentee will have the opportunity to observe and/or support a full birth experience alongside Roxy (with client consent), including pre-labor, labor, and immediate postpartum care. This is a key component of practical learning.

Doula Mentorship Pricing:

To make our doula mentorships accessible to a wide range of aspiring doulas we’ve chosen to offer my support at a sliding scale. Please choose whichever price best meets your needs. I offer 3 slots per year at a lower sliding scale, so please inquire if these spots are available.

  • $500 is the ideal price for you if you will need to strategically save to afford this mentorship and support.

  • $800 is the ideal price for you if you do not spend most of your time thinking about meeting your basic needs and have access to steady income. This price point is the "true" cost of services based on our experience and level of care you'll receive.

  • $1,000 is the ideal price for you if you have access to financial security. This is the "pay it forward" price that allows us to offer services to doulas at a lower cost when needed.
