A woman with blonde hair, smiling and wearing a pink long-sleeve shirt, is sitting outside holding a brown dog with yellow eyes and a pink leash. There are green bushes and trees with purple flowers in the background, along with a black metal fence and parked cars.

Meet Kaileen:

Hi! I'm KD!

I am excited to be back in AVL after living on the West Coast! As the first born of a big, loud family, I know how to find “calm” in chaotic environments and quickly tune in to the needs around me. As a doula, I offer lots of reassurance, body positioning assists for comfort, advocacy + education, and emotional support during your birth experience. I am trained in prenatal movement, trauma-informed community teachings, and my first career was in advocacy in Washington, D.C., so you will be in safe, supportive hands that will help make sure you are heard and having your needs met, all while trying to have a little fun!

I believe in the powerful role that movement, lighting, touch, and education play (I'll make sure you know what is next and remind you of your options) in labor. It puzzles me how yoga studios usually are comfy and cute with lots of focus on music and lighting and oneness, and hospitals are sterile, individual, and low-sensory environments. (And I can say that after working in hospitals as a nurse aide on my way to midwifery school!) I believe my job is to help you get out of your head and tune in to a rhythm that nourishes your body, and I am happy to include making the space more comfortable, in the ways we can, as part of your journey to finding your internal beat.
