PSA: Getting an Epidural doesn’t mean you can’t move.

Did you know that an epidural can actually help with movement? With hands-on support from your birth team, you can continue to encourage the physiology of labor by exploring different positions. Positions that might have felt impossible before the epidural!

An epidural may provide enough comfort and relaxation for your body to release tension, rest when needed, and move more effectively through labor. Side-lying positions, supported lunges, peanut balls, and frequent position changes can all help create space for baby and support labor progress. You can really work it y’all! As seen above ⬆️

Birth is not an all-or-nothing experience. Choosing an epidural doesn’t mean giving up on movement, autonomy, or active participation in your birth. There are many ways to support the process and work with your body, no matter what pain management choices you make.

At Flow of Life, we’re here to help you understand your options and find what works best for you. Every birth deserves informed choices, compassionate support, and flexibility along the way.
